Qustion: I have an 8-level Condominium and need a SIRS / Milestone Report / Engineering Plans for the rehab of the struture, do I need a "Special" or Threshold" Inspector?
Answer: In a word: No. Threshold Inspectors are not required in any phase of the above listed items including complex structural repair and rehabilitation.
A "Special" or "Threshold" Inspector has undergone training in the Inspection of NEW BUILDINGS. Few Theshold Inspectors have much experience in the rehabilitation of Existing Structures.
There is much regulatory churn and misinformation as to when and where Threshold Inspectors fit into the Rehab space within Structural Engineering. But suffice it to say - NO, you do not need a Threshold Inspector for any of the aforementioned roles.
If a Threshold Inspector is needed during the construction phase due to a significant structural modification or repair - we can engage anyone of a number of SI's that would be happy to perform that Inspection Service for you.
